US Open Schedule and Spectator Tip #1

US Open schedule

With the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open completed, it’s time for Flushing Meadows to welcome the tennis elite for two weeks of hard-court action at the US Open. This year’s tournament has some changes including mixed doubles and the start date of qualifying.

The US Open starts Sunday August 24 and runs through Sunday September 7 with the men’s final. The main draw will feature a 15-day schedule for the first time, with Round 1 taking place over three days instead of the traditional two. The new schedule puts the US Open on the same timeline as other Grand Slam events such as the Australian Open and the French Open, which added a day to their opening rounds last year.

Spectator Tip #1: Check the daily Schedule of Play on the US Open website and app (released mid-day each day) for all matches scheduled during that day’s session. The US Open’s official website also offers an interactive seat viewer to help you pick your ideal vantage point in the stadiums. You can also stream all US Open matches on ESPN+, a live streaming service that is available for cable and Roku devices.

Families will want to be sure to catch Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day on Thursday of the second week, where they can enter the grounds for free and watch top young players compete in an exhibition tournament that features a stadium show. The tournament also hosts Community Day on the second Thursday of the week, when all tickets are half price and you can watch a variety of doubles matches and some singles matches in the Ashe and Armstrong stadiums.
