World Series Highlights

As the World Series enters its final three games in New York, here’s a look back at some of its biggest moments.

Corey Seager homered off of Yankees starter Jack Flaherty in the bottom of the first inning to give Los Angeles an early 3-0 lead. It was one of a number of big hits the Dodgers would get that night, including a two-run homer from Teoscar Hernandez and another from Freddie Freeman, who is putting on a show in this World Series.

In a World Series filled with many memorable home runs and great plays, this is easily the most important one of them all. In the bottom of the ninth inning with the Series tied, Boston Red Sox closer Bob Stanley had men on second and third base with one out. But Rafael Belliard bobbled a ball that was tailor-made for a double play, leading to a game-winning run by Jim Leyritz. It was a play that has entered baseball lore and cemented the Curse of the Bambino superstition.

Buehler didn’t have a stellar regular season but he has emerged as a key postseason performer for the Dodgers. After a shaky NLDS Game 3, Buehler delivered an outstanding performance in Game 5 to put the Dodgers up for good in this World Series. He shut down the Yankees on one hit and a walk while striking out six in eight innings, earning him iconic pronouncements from both Vin Scully and Joe Buck.
